If you stay in Oun Hotel in Soi Yothin Patana 3 or nearby , there is a recommended Thai food serving common food that Thai people usually have in their daily lifestyle. If you look out from your hotel, the shop will be slightly on your right hand side opposite the small road.
Beside from normal food, this place is famous for a kind of food call “Guay Tiew Paak More” or “Noodle from steam pot” (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวปากหม้อ) which is a very rare kind of food that rarely found in Bangkok as it is originated from a small town 80 KM away from Bangkok. The owner is a local peole from the town so you can ask from her. Her name is Kop ( means frog).
Please see the photo of the food below :
This is soup part which will be added with special kind of noodle. It does not look like noodle at all, it does look more like dumpling. But the inside was not the same as dumpling. Check this photo
So, you eat it by putting each piece of dumpling into the soup and eat it as if you were eating dumpling
You can alter the taste of the soup to suite your taste bud with dried chilli, sugar, fish sauce and vinegar. More over , if you prefer to eat it the way local people of the town 80 KM away from Bangkok does, you need to sit around the cooking station and have each dumpling freshly cooked one by one so you will feel the heat of each dumpling and smell of the inside.
Each dumpling will be served to you one by one. This is the genuine way of experience this kind of food.
There are many kind of dumpling for you to choose. But I would recommend you to try it first for the first round and the you can specify which one you prefer to have and which ones that you do not wish to have.
Not only this food. There are many more delicious menu. The food has been tried and liked by foreign guests of the Oun Hotel for example :
Guay Jub : Big Flat White noodle in Pork Stock Soup with Egg.
Yen Ta Four : Thai noodle with light pork soup with Tofu sauce and grounded peanut
Khao Kha Moo : Pot-Stewed Pork with rice
Give it a try to experience what common Thai people does. The most important is that it is high value for money. With the price of each menu compared with the amount they are serving, there is no such kind of value for money in Bangkok anymore.
Hope you enjoy the food.
